About
Hotel Effie Sandestin, Autograph Collection sits at the physical and social center of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, positioned on the narrow stretch of land between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay at 1 Grand Sandestin Boulevard in Miramar Beach. The 250-room luxury hotel opened in February 2021 as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, and it has quickly become one of the Emerald Coast’s most recognized addresses, anchored by a rooftop pool that remains the only one of its kind on Florida’s Emerald Coast.
That rooftop pool, part of the Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge, gives guests panoramic views over the bay and Gulf from several stories up, paired with a full bar serving cocktails and wine through the afternoon and into the evening. Down at ground level, Ovide serves as the hotel’s signature restaurant, built around Gulf Coast and coastal Southern cooking. James Beard Award winning chef Hugh Acheson conceived Ovide’s culinary concept when the hotel opened, and he continues to shape the menu direction today, while executive chef Matthew Krueger, who joined the property in 2022, runs day-to-day kitchen operations across Ovide and the hotel’s other dining outlets. Beyond Ovide, guests can grab a coffee at Sweetbay Coffee, order a drink at The Lobby Bar, or call for in-room dining at nearly any hour.

Hotel Effie earned AAA Four Diamond recognition in 2023, its first Four Diamond designation since opening, a distinction reserved for only a small share of AAA-rated properties across North America each year. Guests checking in are often greeted with a small, memorable touch: homemade chocolate chip cookies served nightly from a rocking chair in the lobby, a detail that has become something of a signature for returning guests.

Wellness at Hotel Effie centers on Spa Lilliana, an appointment-based spa offering facials, massages, scrubs, and nail services just off the main lobby, alongside a fitness center for guests who want to keep a workout routine going during a beach trip. The hotel is also genuinely pet friendly, welcoming dogs up to 65 pounds that are well-mannered and fully trained, a policy that opens the property to travelers who would otherwise need to board a dog at home. Groups and event planners have more than 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space to work with, including a 13,000 square foot ballroom capable of hosting large weddings, conferences, and galas.
A handful of practical details matter for anyone booking a stay. The hotel charges a daily resort fee of $45 that covers items like equipment rentals, resort shuttle service, golf discounts, and tennis access, and parking runs $25 a day for self-parking or $32 a day for valet, with an added $20 for EV charging. The property is entirely smoke-free. For visitors weighing where to base an Emerald Coast trip, Hotel Effie’s central Sandestin location puts Baytowne Wharf, the resort’s golf courses, and the beach itself within a short walk or shuttle ride, making it a practical hub for a stay that mixes rooftop pool time, fine dining at Ovide, and easy access to everything else Sandestin offers, from Spa Lilliana appointments to an evening out in the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
