Hampton Inn Niceville-Eglin Air Force Base sits at 4400 Ansley Drive, just off State Road 20 on the east side of Niceville beside Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park. The park, with its trails, bayou paddling and picnic areas, is only a short walk away, and Bluewater Bay Golf Course is about two miles east.
Built in 2001, the three-story hotel has 56 rooms, a small count that keeps the property quiet. Room types include king and two-queen rooms, and some double queen rooms look out over the bayou. Rooms are non-smoking, connecting rooms are available and the Hilton Honors app works as a digital key. Rooms include microwaves and refrigerators, and streaming entertainment is set up on the TVs.
A free hot breakfast is served daily. There is an outdoor pool, a fitness center and a 24-hour business center, and self parking is free. Pets up to 75 pounds are welcome for a non-refundable fee. Cribs are available on request.
The hotel suits travelers who want a calmer, more natural setting than the base-side hotels on John Sims Parkway, along with golfers, paddlers and families visiting Northwest Florida State College, about four miles away. Eglin Air Force Base is about seven miles west, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport about eight miles, and Destin’s beaches and Henderson Beach State Park are roughly 13 miles south over the Mid-Bay Bridge.
