Pier Park is Panama City Beach’s town center — a sprawling open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment district at the west end of PCB, directly across from the Russell-Fields Pier (the ‘City Pier’) and one of the most popular stretches of white-sand beach in Bay County. If you spend more than a day in Panama City Beach, you’ll end up here: it’s where locals run errands, teenagers cruise on summer nights, and families land when someone finally says they need a break from the sand.
The layout is a walkable grid of streets and lawns rather than an enclosed mall, so plan it like a small downtown. Anchors and attractions surround dozens of shops — Ron Jon Surf Shop brings its world-famous surf-brand flagship energy, Just Beachy stocks coastal gifts and decor, and the adjacent Pier Park North extension adds more dining and services, including The Craft Bar’s craft-beer gastropub and Hand & Stone’s massage and facial spa for a post-beach reset.
Pier Park Beach Access and Parking
One of Pier Park’s best features is what’s across the street: the Russell-Fields Pier stretches 1,500 feet into the Gulf, with pier fishing and walk-on views for a small fee, and a major public beach access at its base. Parking at Pier Park itself is free, which makes it a popular beach-day base — but the lots closest to Front Beach Road fill by mid-morning in summer. Park toward the back of the complex or in a garage, and cross to the sand at the pier.
Pier Park sits on Front Beach Road at the western hub of Panama City Beach, about 20 minutes from St. Andrews State Park at the east end and 15–20 minutes from the 30A corridor to the west. Evenings are the sweet spot: shops stay open late in season, live entertainment and seasonal events fill the lawns, and fireworks light the pier on summer nights and holidays. Come hungry, plan a sunset walk on the pier, and give yourself more time than you think you need.
Food & Drink in Pier Park
Dining in Pier Park runs from quick beach-day bites to full nights out, and the Pier Park North extension keeps adding to the lineup. The Craft Bar’s gastropub is a standout — one of the area’s best local craft-beer selections paired with a serious kitchen. Eat early or late in peak summer; the district fills fast at dinner.
