Carillon Beach is a private, master-planned beach village at the far west end of Panama City Beach, tucked between the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell — one of Florida’s rare coastal dune lakes — right at the Bay County line near Inlet Beach. Built in the New Urbanist tradition that shaped Seaside and the 30A towns, it’s a gated community of white-washed cottages, picket fences, brick streets, and a small town center arranged around the lake. If 30A’s postcard villages appeal to you but you want fewer crowds and a Panama City Beach address, Carillon Beach is the quiet answer.

The setting is the star. Residents and guests get nearly 4,000 feet of private, dedicated beach on the Gulf side, while the Lake Powell side offers a completely different kind of water day — paddleboarding and kayaking on calm dune-lake water where you might share the morning with herons and the occasional jumping mullet. Camp Helen State Park sits directly across the lake, preserving the shoreline views, and the community’s pools, tennis courts, and walking paths round out the amenity list.

Staying in Carillon Beach

Because the community is private and gated, most visitors experience Carillon Beach through a vacation rental or a stay at the Carillon Beach Resort Inn, the boutique inn inside the village with access to community pools and amenities. That’s the practical tip to know: this isn’t a drive-up public beach — book a stay inside the gates and the beach, lake, and village come with it.

Location-wise, Carillon Beach may be the smartest home base on the coast. Inlet Beach and the east end of Scenic Highway 30A — Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, and 30Avenue’s shops and restaurants — are five minutes west. Pier Park and central Panama City Beach are 15–20 minutes east. That means quiet nights in a cottage village with two entire vacation regions within an easy drive. Spring and fall are the sweet spots, when Lake Powell paddling is glassy and 30A’s festival season is in full swing; summer brings warm Gulf water and the village’s liveliest family energy.

Stays in Carillon Beach

Staying inside the gates is the way to experience Carillon Beach, since its beach and amenities are private to the community. The Carillon Beach Resort Inn is the village’s boutique inn, with access to community pools and a short stroll to both the Gulf sand and Lake Powell. Book well ahead for spring and summer — the village is small and demand is not.
