Emerald Coast Guide
Rosemary Beach
Rosemary Beach is one of the most architecturally distinctive communities on the Gulf Coast — a neo-traditional beach town of cobblestone streets, West Indies-inspired architecture, and a central courtyard that draws people in and keeps them there. The independent shops and restaurants here set a high bar for the whole corridor.

Rosemary Beach is the grande dame of 30A’s east end — a neo-traditional beach town of cobblestone streets, West Indies-inspired architecture, gas lanterns, and shaded boardwalks that feels more like a European village than a Florida resort. Founded in the mid-1990s and named for the wild rosemary that grows in the dunes, it has matured into one of the most architecturally distinctive communities on the entire Gulf Coast.
The town sits near the eastern terminus of Scenic Highway 30A, between Seacrest and Alys Beach to the west and Inlet Beach to the east. Life centers on Barrett Square and Main Street, where independent shops and restaurants set a high bar for the whole corridor: fine dining at Restaurant Paradis and Edward’s, rooftop sunsets at Pescado, Spanish tapas at La Crema, and casual Tex-Mex at the beloved Cowgirl Kitchen. A series of green spaces and parks threads through town, and wooden boardwalks lead over the dunes to a broad, sugar-white beach.
Staying in Rosemary Beach
Rosemary is one of the few 30A communities with true boutique hotels. The Pearl Hotel — 30A’s definitive luxury boutique property, with the Havana Beach Bar & Grill and an on-site spa — anchors the west entrance to town, while the 11-room Rosemary Beach Inn offers European-style charm right on Main Street. Vacation homes and carriage houses fill out the options for families and longer stays.
Getting Around and When to Visit
Rosemary Beach was designed for walking, and everything in town is within a five-minute stroll of Barrett Square. Bikes rule here too — Bamboo Bicycle Company rents bicycles, kayaks, and paddleboards, and the Timpoochee Trail connects you west toward Alys Beach and Seaside. Parking is tight in peak season, so arrive early or pedal in. Beach access within town is primarily for owners and guests, so day-trippers should plan on nearby public accesses at Inlet Beach. Summer is the town at full hum; spring and fall bring warm water and easier reservations; and the holiday season, when the lanterns glow on the cobblestones, may be Rosemary at its most charming. It suits couples, multi-generational families, and anyone who wants small-town polish with serious food and shopping.
Arts & Culture in Rosemary Beach
Rosemary Beach’s arts scene mirrors its architecture: small, refined, and worth lingering over. Curate gallery showcases glass, sculpture, and wall art steps from Barrett Square, and the town’s lanes, green spaces, and West Indies-style buildings make the whole community feel like an open-air gallery — one of the most photographed streetscapes on the Gulf Coast.
