Miramar Beach, Florida is the long, sugar-white stretch of Gulf coastline that runs between Destin and the Sandestin resort in South Walton County. Golfers have the Seascape Golf, Beach & Tennis Resort right in the neighborhood, and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, with its rare coastal dune lakes, is a short drive east along Scenic Highway 30A.

Getting Around Miramar Beach

Orientation is simple: Highway 98 (Emerald Coast Parkway) carries the traffic and the shopping, while Scenic Gulf Drive hugs the beach one block south. Destin’s harbor and its famous fishing fleet are about 10–15 minutes west; Sandestin and Grand Boulevard are 5–10 minutes east; the beach towns of 30A start about 15 minutes beyond that. Public beach accesses dot Scenic Gulf Drive — the Miramar Regional Beach Access is the largest, with parking, restrooms, and seasonal lifeguards — but lots fill early on summer mornings, so arrive before 9 a.m. or plan an afternoon session.

When to Visit

Summer is peak season, with warm Gulf water and the busiest crowds; expect slow traffic on Highway 98 on Saturdays, the big rental turnover day. Spring and fall are the local favorites — the water is still swimmable well into October, rates drop, and the beaches empty out. Whether you’re here for a week in a Gulf-front condo, an outlet shopping day, or a steak dinner after a beach day, Miramar Beach makes an easy, central home base for exploring the whole Emerald Coast.
