Sushimoto

Miramar Beach $$
Family owned Sushi bar

About

Sushimoto is a small, family-owned Japanese restaurant in a strip center on U.S. 98 in Miramar Beach, a few minutes east of Destin. It runs on its own rules: no reservations, first come, first served, no to-go orders when the room is full, and nobody answering the phone during a rush. Play along and it’s one of the most rewarding sushi meals on the Emerald Coast.

What to order

Start with the chef’s choice platters, where the sushi bar picks the fish, or order nigiri and sashimi by the piece. The house rolls have playful names like the MotoRolla and the J.O.J. (Just Off The Jet), and the cooked side of the menu, from nabeyaki udon to teriyaki plates, is worth a look on a cool night. The sake list runs deeper than most beach-town sushi rooms, with Japanese beers to match. Lunch has its own shorter menu.
