Dewey Destin’s Harborside — You can’t eat more Destin than this: a humble waterfront fish house run by descendants of Leonard Destin, the town’s founding fisherman. Pecan-crusted grouper, working-harbor views, zero pretense.
AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar — The harbor’s rowdy original since 1984. Smoked tuna dip, cold oysters, live music into the small hours, and charter deckhands cleaning the day’s catch beside your table.
Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House — Southern hospitality with a serious kitchen. The grouper sandwich is a Destin benchmark, and the back lawn rolling down to the harbor handles date night and family night equally well. No reservations; the wait is the ritual.
Harbor Docks — Since 1979, the unlikely pairing that works: Gulf seafood and a genuinely good sushi bar, supplied by the family’s own seafood market.
Marina Café — The white-tablecloth harbor view since 1988. Louisiana redfish, a devoted martini following, and the best fine-dining value in town at the early seating.
Brotula’s — Home of Hook & Cook: bring your charter catch straight off the docks and the kitchen prepares it three ways. The most Destin dinner possible.
Beyond the Harbor
The Back Porch — Beachfront since 1974 and credited with inventing the chargrilled amberjack sandwich. Toes-in-the-sand tables on Old 98.
Louisiana Lagniappe — Bayou-style seafood hidden on Holiday Isle with the best sunset view in town over Old Pass Lagoon. Dinner only; plan your evening around it.
Camille’s at Crystal Beach — The neighborhood double act: beloved breakfast café downstairs, local-favorite sushi upstairs.
McGuire’s Irish Pub of Destin — The 1996 sibling of Pensacola’s 1977 legend. A million signed dollar bills, house-brewed ale, and steaks that earn the slogan.
Local Rules for Eating in Destin
HarborWalk waits are real. Summer dinner rushes hit hard; locals eat at 5 p.m., sit at bars, or go midweek.
