Alys Beach is the most striking sight on all of Scenic Highway 30A, a gleaming town of solid white buildings, Bermuda-inspired architecture, and courtyards that seem lifted from the Mediterranean. Every rooftop, wall, and palm-lined street is governed by an exacting design code, and the result is unlike anywhere else in Florida. If you’ve seen one photo of 30A on your feed, odds are it was taken here.

Alys Beach sits on the eastern end of 30A, between WaterSound to the west and Seacrest and Rosemary Beach to the east, which makes it an easy stop on any east-end itinerary and a favorite destination ride along the Timpoochee Trail. The town’s butteries (small white event halls), fountains, and immaculate green spaces are best explored slowly on foot; sunrise and late afternoon deliver the famous glow that photographers chase against those white walls.

For a small town, Alys Beach eats remarkably well. Fonville Press is the community’s living room, a market, café, and cocktail bar in the Town Center where mornings start with coffee and pastries. George’s at Alys Beach (‘behave or misbehave’) is the long-running local favorite, The Citizen turns out wood-fired coastal cooking with a raw bar, and Aja 30A adds elevated Asian fusion and sushi. Between meals, grab a cold-pressed juice at Raw & Juicy, handmade donuts at Charlie’s Delights, or a tasting at NEAT Bottle Shop.

Visiting Tips

Know before you go: Alys Beach is largely a private residential community, and beach access is reserved for property owners and guests staying in town. Day visitors are welcome to stroll the Town Center, dine, shop, and photograph the architecture, but plan on public beach accesses in nearby Seacrest or Inlet Beach if you’re not staying here. Parking along 30A is limited, so biking in is often easier. Spring and fall bring the best light and lightest crowds; summer evenings, when the courtyards glow and dinner reservations are essential, are pure magic. Alys Beach suits couples, design lovers, and anyone who wants 30A at its most polished.
