Hampton Inn & Suites Destin is on Scenic Highway 98, the older beach road that splits off US 98 in central Destin, right beside The Track family recreation center. It is not on the sand, but the hotel is about a five-minute walk from a public Gulf beach access, which puts it closer to the water than most off-beach hotels in town. The three-story building has 134 rooms, including many studio and king suites with sofa beds.
A hot breakfast is included each morning, and a treats station stays stocked around the clock. There is an outdoor pool with a covered patio, a fitness center and free self-parking. Up to two dogs or cats are allowed for a per-stay fee plus a refundable deposit. Hilton Honors members can use a digital key.
The Track’s go-karts and mini golf are next door, Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park is under a mile away, and Henderson Beach State Park is a little over a mile east. Destin Commons is about two and a half miles away, and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport roughly ten miles.
It suits families who want to walk to the beach without paying Gulf-front rates, and travelers who want suites with room for kids. Studio and king suites add a sofa bed or chair bed, useful for families of four or five, and accessible studio suites are available.
