About
Mariner West is a six-story Gulf-front condominium building at 6213 Thomas Drive, on the quieter east end of Panama City Beach. Built in 1980, the low-rise has about 60 individually owned condos and direct access to roughly 500 feet of private beach, giving it a relaxed, small-community feel.
Every unit is a one-bedroom, two-bath plan of about 860 to 1,170 square feet, a layout that works well for couples or a small family. Many units have been renovated with updated kitchens and finishes, and each has a private Gulf-facing balcony, a full kitchen and a laundry area. Elevators serve the building, and parking is directly in front.
Amenities include a heated Gulf-front pool, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, shuffleboard, a billiards and game room, an owners’ lounge and gas grills with a picnic area, with free Wi-Fi and cable. Guests must register vehicles for a parking pass through the association’s system. Units are individually owned, and many have been updated with granite counters and new appliances. The association requires every guest vehicle to be registered for a parking pass, and it posts its rental and parking rules on its website. A billiards room gives guests somewhere to go on a rainy afternoon, and the shuffleboard courts sit close to the pool. The clubhouse and owner’s lounge overlook the grounds, and elevators serve all six floors.
St. Andrews State Park, at the end of Thomas Drive, is about five minutes away for hiking, snorkeling and the Shell Island shuttle. Rick Seltzer Park is three minutes by car, and Schooners, J. Michael’s, Buster’s Beer & Bait and the Grand Lagoon marinas are close. Pier Park is about 20 minutes west.
The association does not run a rental program. Units at Mariner West are individually owned and rented through their owners and several rental companies on platforms such as Vrbo and Airbnb, so furnishings, parking fees and extras such as beach chair service vary from one unit to the next. It suits couples and small families who want a quiet low-rise on the beach.
