American Inn

American Inn is at 6400 Mobile Highway, on the US 90 corridor on Pensacola’s west side, less than a mile from the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds. Expedia lists Five Flags Speedway about three miles away, the Saenger Theatre downtown about nine miles away and Naval Air Station Pensacola about 12 miles away, with Pensacola International Airport about 17 minutes by car and the Pensacola Amtrak station about ten minutes away.

The motel is all on one level, with rooms that open directly onto the parking lot. Room types include a basic studio and a standard single, each around 250 square feet with one bed for up to two guests. The rooms have been renovated recently, and guest comments on Expedia frequently mention helpful staff and well-kept rooms. There is a guest laundry, air conditioning, free WiFi and a 24 hour front desk. There is no breakfast and no kitchenette.

Parking is free. Pets are allowed for a daily fee.

The single-story layout, with parking outside each door, is convenient for travelers who do not want to deal with stairs or who are traveling with a pet. The fairgrounds are within walking distance for guests attending the Pensacola Interstate Fair or other events, and Mobile Highway has fast food, gas stations and shops nearby.

American Inn is a small, budget-friendly base for solo travelers and couples, fair and speedway visitors and people passing through on the west side of Pensacola. Downtown Pensacola is about 20 minutes east, and Perdido Key and the Alabama beaches are about a half hour drive. With rooms sized for one or two people, it is not the right fit for families, but solo travelers and couples on a budget will find a tidy room close to the west side’s main roads. Weekly stays are common for workers on nearby projects.
