St. Andrews Slice House

St. Andrews Slice House is a pizza-by-the-slice shop tucked just off Beck Avenue in Historic St. Andrews. The idea is simple: rather than committing to a whole pie, you can pick a few slices and try different combinations. The restaurant describes its focus as bold flavors, fresh ingredients and pizza by the slice, and it has collected several Best of Bay awards from local readers.

What sets the Slice House apart is how far it pushes the toppings. In a 2022 WJHG feature, chef Franky Garcia, one of the people behind the pies, explained that the goal is to give pizza a spin and a twist so it is not always the same red sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni. The station reported more than 70 creative slice variations, with toppings ranging from cucumbers, banana peppers and artichoke hearts to ribeye steak. Pies are 18 inches, so each slice is large.

One slice that got attention is the Thaipocalypse, made with a chili Thai sauce, cucumbers and chicken, which WJHG compared to an egg roll. For something more familiar, the Tony is a pepperoni slice. The current menu also lists Mediterranean, vegetarian and Caesar salad pizzas, along with salads and appetizers such as buffalo chicken breadsticks with ranch. The rotating lineup means the case may look different each visit.

Garcia described the shop as a hole in the wall where you can come with your kids or your friends, grab a drink and a slice, and take a stroll around the block. That casual approach fits the neighborhood, where many visitors wander between Beck Avenue shops, the museum and the waterfront. The Slice House sits in the middle of the Beck Avenue strip, across the street from Hunt’s Oyster Bar and close to the Panama City Publishing Company Museum. Oaks by the Bay Park and the bayfront are a short walk south, and St. Andrews Marina is a few blocks west. Hours vary by day and season, so check hours before you go. A slice here makes an easy lunch between a morning at the Saturday market and an afternoon on the water.

The shop’s playful menu fits the character of Beck Avenue, where older storefronts have filled with independent restaurants and shops in the years since the city designated St. Andrews a community redevelopment area in 1989. Portions are generous, so a couple of slices usually makes a full meal. Families with picky eaters can stick with pepperoni or cheese while adults try one of the more unusual combinations, which makes the Slice House an easy group stop.
