The Sandshaker is a Pensacola Beach legend: a laid-back dive bar and package store near the foot of the island that claims the Bushwacker, the frozen rum drink every beach bar on the coast now pours. It also hosts the annual Bushwacker Festival.
What to order
A Bushwacker, of course. Choose the original, banana or strawberry, made with 80- or 151-proof rum. The Sandshaker is a bar, not a restaurant, so eat before you go.
Good to know
- Hours: daily, 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
- Live music: every weekend, with no cover.
- Parking: it has its own lot, across the street from the beach.
- Package store: pick up beer, wine and liquor for the condo on the way in.
