About

The Congressman Robert L. F. Sikes Museum, on Northwest Florida State College’s Crestview campus, preserves the legacy of Bob Sikes, whom the college describes as the longest-tenured representative of Florida’s 1st Congressional District. Sikes is credited with helping build Northwest Florida into the region it is today, and the college dedicated the museum in his honor in June 2024.

The museum is inside the college’s Robert L. F. Sikes Center at 805 E James Lee Blvd in Crestview; call 850-729-6044 or visit mattiekellyartscenter.org for details. It preserves, protects and shares the material culture of Sikes’s public service from 1940 to 1979. Interactive exhibits trace his career, personal memorabilia fills the cases, and displays detail his advocacy for military and educational growth across Northwest Florida.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries manage the museum, along with the college’s art collection in Niceville and its Doolittle Raid World War II History Permanent Exhibition. The museum is meant as an educational resource for students and the public, and it is a natural companion to a visit to Crestview’s other history museums.

Hours are limited: the museum is open Thursdays from 2pm to 5pm, except on national holidays. Admission details are not posted, so call ahead before you go, especially if you are planning a group visit or a class trip.
