Voices of Pensacola Multicultural Center

The Voices of Pensacola Multicultural Center highlights the many cultural groups that have shaped Pensacola, using rotating exhibits drawn from the city’s communities. Opened in 2014 and run by the University of West Florida Historic Trust, it is a small, focused stop that adds depth to a day in the historic district.

The center is at 117 E Government St in downtown Pensacola, 850-595-5840, historicpensacola.org. The current exhibit, “Musically Inclined: A Look at the Pensacola Jazz Scene,” explores the history and influence of jazz along the Gulf Coast. Past exhibits have included travel diaries and a look at lost Pensacola landmarks.

Researchers should know about the Hilton-Green Research Room on the second floor, which holds documents, maps and photographs. The first floor includes a theater and meeting space used for programs.

Voices of Pensacola is not part of the Historic Trust’s combined ticket. That separate seven-day ticket covers the nearby Pensacola Museum of History, Historic Pensacola Village, the Pensacola Children’s Museum and the Pensacola Museum of Art, so it is easy to plan both. The center keeps weekday hours and is closed on weekends; check the Historic Pensacola website for current days and admission before you go. There is no dedicated parking for the Historic Trust sites; use the paid lot near Tarragona and Church Streets or two-hour street parking.
