Blue Wahoos Stadium
About
Blue Wahoos Stadium is the waterfront ballpark of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins in the Southern League. It opened on April 5, 2012, seats 5,038 fans, and sits on Pensacola Bay inside the Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park at the southwest edge of downtown.
The stadium was designed by the architecture firm Populous and cost about $23.8 million to build. It is operated by Community Maritime Park Associates, and the playing surface was named Admiral Fetterman Field in 2015. The team is owned by Quint and Rishy Studer along with golfer Bubba Watson and NFL Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks. According to the team, the ballpark has been named Southern League Ballpark of the Year three times, was recently recognized for the best view in Double-A, and has averaged more than 4,000 fans every season since it opened.
The bay is the star. The ballpark looks out over the water, and evening games often end with sunset over the bay. From 2016 to 2021 the stadium also hosted University of West Florida Argonauts football, including the program’s first Gulf South Conference title game. The team says the facility hosts more than 200 events a year beyond baseball, which means the ballpark stays busy well after the final out of the season.
The park around the stadium is named for Vince J. Whibbs Sr. and is described by the City of Pensacola as a multi-use, public-private development on the downtown waterfront. Its open lawns host car shows, boat shows, festivals and concerts through the year. The Hunter Amphitheater is easy to spot by its palm-frond-shaped steel trusses, and the playground and green space make the park a useful stop for families even on nongame days.
Beyond game day
The Blue Wahoos season runs roughly from April through mid September. The 2026 season opened April 3 and closed its home schedule on September 13, with 69 home dates. Fall and winter visitors can still enjoy the setting: the surrounding Community Maritime Park includes the Hunter Amphitheater, with a covered stage and lawn seating for about 3,000 overlooking the bay, open exhibition and festival grounds, and the inclusive Rotary Centennial Playground with its clock tower centerpiece.
The stadium is a short walk from Palafox Street, which makes a pregame dinner or postgame drink downtown easy. Game times, promotions and nongame events change throughout the year, so check the team schedule and hours before you go.
