About

The Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier runs 1,471 feet into the Gulf from Casino Beach, past two sandbars, making it one of the longest piers on the Gulf Coast. Anglers come for king mackerel, cobia and pompano, and everyone else comes for the view back at Pensacola Beach and the dolphins that often cruise along the pier.

Fishing or walking

  • Walking pass: $2.25 for the day.
  • Fishing: $7.50 for adults, $4.50 for youth, and $6.50 for seniors and military. Kids under 6 are free.
  • License: the pier’s fishing fee covers your license to fish from the pier.
  • Rentals: rods for $14.50 and carts for $9, plus a bait and tackle shop with snacks and drinks.

Prices don’t include tax. Lifetime disabled veterans can fish free with a pass from the Santa Rosa Island Authority office.

A bit of history

The first pier here was a 600-foot wooden structure built after the Pensacola Bay Bridge opened in 1931. Storms including Frederic, Elena and Opal damaged the early piers, and today’s longer concrete pier replaced them. Hurricane Sally closed it in September 2020, and it reopened on June 26, 2021.
