About

Bamboo Willie’s sits at 400 Quietwater Beach Rd on the Santa Rosa Sound side of Pensacola Beach, inside the Quietwater Boardwalk complex near Hooters and the beach shops. The bar bills itself as Pensacola Beach’s premium beach bar, built around two open air bar setups with water views, and it’s genuinely reachable by foot, boat, or a swim straight in from the Sound, which fits the laid back, come as you are culture of the boardwalk.

Frozen drinks are the specialty, and the Bushwacker is the headline order. Pensacola Beach has a real claim to this drink’s history. The Bushwacker was invented in 1975 at the Ship’s Store, Sapphire Pub, in Sapphire Village on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, using vodka, Kahlua, dark creme de cacao, cream of coconut, triple sec, and milk, and a modified version made its way to Pensacola in 1977. The connection ran deep enough that Quietwater Beach has hosted an annual Bushwacker Festival since 1986. Bamboo Willie’s leans into that heritage today, describing its own frozen Bushwacker as the drink made famous on beautiful Pensacola Beach, and the bar was a 2025 Best of the Bay finalist for Best Bushwacker on the strength of that reputation. Beyond the frozen drinks, the bar pours domestic and imported beer and runs weekly specials, including a Mutiny Monday deal on vodka pours.

Live music is the other pillar here, booked almost daily and spanning local acts, regional touring bands, and national names that have included The Revivalists, The Springs, Canaan Smith, and Eric Lindell in years past. The bar’s own calendar has listed performers such as Bangarang Peter, Oliver Twist, Vinyl Revival, Rockstar Fish, Hip Trip, Vibe Irie, Thin Ice, Horseshoe Kitty, and Buzzcut, the last of which has been recognized as Best Cover Band of Pensacola. That steady booking schedule helped earn Bamboo Willie’s the 2025 Best of the Bay title for Best Beach Bar, plus finalist nods for Best Live Music Venue and Best Place to Dance, along with a past Best Bar On Pensacola Beach recognition from the Pensacola News Journal.

The calendar carries beyond weekly shows into signature annual events. Bamboo Willie’s hosts a Crawfish Festival, a Halloween Beach Bash, the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival, Hooters Bikini Finals, and Christmas on the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, plus a Labor Day Music Fest that in 2026 is set to include bathtub races and fireworks over the Sound. A live beach camera on the bar’s website lets would be visitors check conditions and crowd size before making the trip down to the boardwalk.

Regular hours run Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., giving late arrivals plenty of runway for a nightcap after dinner elsewhere on the island. For anyone building a Pensacola Beach trip around live music, frozen drinks, and a direct view of Santa Rosa Sound, Bamboo Willie’s remains one of the most reliable stops on the boardwalk, and its Quietwater Beach Road address puts it within easy walking distance of The Wharf Fish & Oyster Company and the rest of the boardwalk’s restaurants and shops.
