Peg Leg Pete’s
About
Peg Leg Pete’s sits at 1010 Fort Pickens Road on Pensacola Beach, a pirate-themed seafood restaurant and raw bar that has become one of the beach’s enduring hangouts. The restaurant’s own website calls it one of the hot spots on Pensacola Beach, and the description holds up: this is a family-friendly, oceanfront patio kind of place where flip-flops are the standard uniform and nobody blinks at a wet swimsuit at the bar. Locals lean on the year-round prices, and the restaurant treats visiting tourists, in its own words, as if they live here.
Part of what sets Peg Leg Pete’s apart is what surrounds it. Lafitte Cove Marina sits directly behind the restaurant, with boat slips available to visiting boaters and to those who want to rent one, so it is entirely possible to arrive by water and walk straight into the raw bar without ever touching a road. For overnight stays, the property also offers condo rentals at the Crow’s Nest, located atop the restaurant itself, and at Lafitte Landing next door, putting guests a short elevator ride or a quick walk from their table. Three live webcams, covering the bar, the beach, and a pirate-themed view, let would-be visitors check conditions before they even leave home.

The kitchen runs several menus side by side: a main menu, the Underwhere Bar menu, a gluten-free menu, and a dedicated kids menu, giving groups with different dietary needs a reason to agree on one restaurant. Raw bar standards drive much of the appeal, including oysters served on the half shell and oysters Rockefeller, alongside fried shrimp and blackened snapper for the cooked-seafood crowd. Steak dinners and wraps with fries round out the menu for anyone in the group who wants to skip seafood entirely, a practical touch for a restaurant that pulls in large mixed groups all summer long.

Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., a good window for beating both the dinner rush and the worst of the afternoon heat. Live music takes over every Saturday night, turning the patio into one of the beach’s more reliable weekend gathering spots. Between the marina traffic, the condo guests staying just upstairs, and the steady churn of beachgoers walking in off Fort Pickens Road, Peg Leg Pete’s rarely feels empty, even on weeknights outside of peak season.

The raw bar goes well beyond a basic oyster list. Baked oyster styles include Parmesan, Spicy Lafitte, Cajun, Rockefeller, Buffalo Blue, and Imperial, along with an Oyster Shooter served with a bloody mary mix and a shot of beer or vodka, plus a sampler platter for anyone who cannot pick just one style. On the entree side, chargrilled mahi-mahi, stuffed grouper, and a whole lobster from the steamer sit alongside Cajun specialties like red beans and rice and blackened grouper, and the kitchen finishes meals with desserts such as key lime pie and bread pudding with amaretto sauce.
Hours run 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and back to 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Call (850) 932-4139 to check on marina slip availability, condo rental openings, or large group seating before heading over, especially during the busiest weekends of summer, when both the restaurant and the marina behind it stay in near constant motion.
