Salty Goat Saloon
About
Salty Goat Saloon sits at 13006 Front Beach Rd in Panama City Beach, a locally owned bar and grill that built its name on live music every night of the week and a strict no-cover-charge policy. The saloon opened in the summer of 2012, founded by Gary Gault, who set out to create a place where visitors and locals alike could gather to share drinks and laughs while feeling like they were right at home. That welcoming, unpretentious approach became the bar’s identity over the following years, and it still shapes how the Salty Goat operates today.
Gault spent five years building the Salty Goat into what its own history describes as Panama City Beach’s go-to spot for locals, bikers, and military personnel, a description that still fits the crowd on any given night. In November 2017, Gault was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and he passed away on December 21 of that year. The bar continues to operate in his memory, and the team behind it has been explicit that Gary will forever be the face of the Salty Goat Saloon, with his legacy carried forward by the staff and regulars who keep the room full.

Live music runs seven nights a week, with a rotating lineup of regional and touring musicians keeping the stage busy and the no-cover policy holding steady no matter who is playing. That combination, free entry paired with nightly entertainment, is a big part of why the Salty Goat draws a crowd that returns trip after trip rather than wandering in once and moving on. Happy hour adds another incentive to stop by, running daily from 4 to 7 PM with a late-night round from midnight to 2 AM Monday through Saturday, and an extended Sunday happy hour from 11 AM to 7 PM.
The kitchen backs up the bar with a full menu of scratch-made bar food built around what the Salty Goat calls Gary’s Goat Favorites, a burger lineup that includes the Philly Goat and the Hawaiian Burger alongside sandwiches like a smoked tuna melt and a chicken cordon bleu. Tacos come filled with chicken, fish, shrimp, or steak, and starters range from fried garlic cheese curds and smoked tuna dip to boudin balls, fried pickles, and loaded tots. Wings arrive in a choice of house, mango habanero, barbecue, teriyaki, or dry rub styles, and the kitchen also turns out nine and twelve inch pizzas for guests who want something to share over drinks.

The bar stays open every single day from 11 AM until 2 AM, which makes it a reliable late-night option on a corridor where plenty of other spots close down earlier. That late close, combined with the bar’s location in the Front Beach Road corridor, puts it within easy reach of other beachfront restaurants and bars for visitors hopping between stops on a night out. Branded merchandise, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and koozies, gives regulars a way to take a piece of the bar home with them, another small touch that reflects how much the Salty Goat leans into its identity as a locally owned fixture rather than a generic beach bar.
For visitors staying along the Front Beach Road corridor, the Salty Goat offers a lower-key, unpretentious alternative to some of the larger entertainment venues nearby, with live music, cheap drink specials, and a kitchen that keeps serving well past the point most restaurants close. The bar can be reached at 850-249-6010, and current music schedules, happy hour specials, and menu updates are posted at saltygoatsaloon.com.
