Candlewood Suites Pensacola – University Area is at 1953 Northcross Lane, just off Interstate 10 exit 13 behind the hotels and restaurants on North Davis Highway. The University of West Florida is a short drive north, and IHG lists Pensacola International Airport about a mile and a half away as the crow flies.
The four-story hotel has 95 suites, in studio and one-bedroom layouts, and every suite has a fully equipped kitchen. Candlewood skips the breakfast buffet in favor of bean-to-cup coffee and a lobby pantry, which keeps the focus on cooking your own meals. Guest laundry is free and open around the clock, and there is an outdoor pool and a 24 hour fitness center.
Parking is free for registered guests. Pets under a weight limit are welcome for a nightly fee capped per stay, which makes this one of the easier pet-friendly options for a long visit. There is no local shuttle.
IHG points guests to the National Naval Aviation Museum, the Pensacola Lighthouse and Maritime Museum and Cordova Mall, each an easy drive, and the interchange location makes day trips east to Milton or west to Mobile simple. The hotel is built for stays of a week or more, for relocations, temporary housing, internships and hospital rotations, and for anyone who would rather have a kitchen and free laundry than a daily breakfast.
