Extended Stay America Select Suites – Pensacola – Northeast is at 12050 Scenic Highway, at the northern edge of Pensacola right beside the University of West Florida campus. Expedia puts the university a one minute walk away. The property was formerly a WoodSpring Suites, and some booking sites still show that name.
The four-story building has 120 suites, each with a kitchen that includes a full-size refrigerator, a stovetop and a microwave. The Select Suites format is streamlined: an on-site laundry, free WiFi, free premium cable and free parking, with a 24 hour front desk. There is no pool, no breakfast and no restaurant.
Dogs and cats are welcome, up to two per suite, for a nightly fee.
This is a natural fit for visiting professors, interns, students between housing and parents in town for a longer campus visit, as well as contractors working on the north side of the city. Expedia lists Pensacola International Airport about 11 minutes away by car, Pensacola State College about six miles, Cordova Mall about six miles and Naval Air Station Pensacola about 21 miles. Scenic Highway follows the bluffs above Escambia Bay heading south toward downtown, a pleasant route for a drive into the city. The quieter setting, away from the Davis Highway interchange, suits guests who want a calmer stay close to campus trails and the bay.
