About

Henderson Park Inn is a small, adults-only inn directly on the Gulf at 2700 Scenic Highway 98 in Destin, next to Henderson Beach State Park. The inn sits along the park’s mile of undeveloped beach, so guests look out over dunes and open sand rather than a row of towers. The property markets itself as a secluded getaway for two, and children are not accommodated.

The inn has 37 rooms and suites, including studio suites. Stays include a list of extras that set it apart from a standard hotel: wine and chocolates at check-in, complimentary coffee, sodas, bottled water and snacks around the clock, and a complimentary daily happy hour. Beach chairs, umbrellas and towels are provided on the private beach, and the inn schedules yoga, aqua fitness and meditation classes. Bicycles are available, and fire pits are lit for evenings outside. Body wrap treatments can be arranged. With only 37 rooms, the inn has relatively few guests sharing its beach, and the state park next door has no hotels or condos. A daily happy hour followed by a walk along the park’s undeveloped shoreline is a simple way to end a beach day, and the fire pits stay lit for the evening.

Dining is on site at the Beach Walk Cafe, which serves breakfast and dinner with views of the Gulf, and the inn also has a cantina. Lunch service on the beach is available. The inn does not have its own pool; guests can use the pool at a sister property for an added fee. Parking and a beach amenity fee are charged separately, so it is worth reviewing the fee list when booking.

The location is one of Destin’s quieter stretches of beach. Henderson Beach State Park’s boardwalks, nature trail and picnic areas are next door, and the Crystal Beach neighborhood, with its low-rise condos and beach accesses, begins just to the east. Destin Commons, Big Kahuna’s and The Track are a few minutes west, and Destin Harbor and HarborWalk Village are about 10 minutes away. Restaurants along Scenic Highway 98 and the Emerald Coast Parkway are a short drive.

Henderson Park Inn suits couples and adult travelers who want a small, service-focused beachfront inn with no children, quiet beach views and included extras like happy hour and beach setup, rather than a large resort with pools and kids’ programs. Its setting on the edge of the state park also appeals to guests who want to walk long stretches of beach without passing high-rises. Guests who want a pool on site should plan on the sister-property option or consider a larger resort nearby, and anyone arriving by car should factor in the nightly parking charge when comparing rates.
