La Playa Perdido Key

La Playa is a low-density Gulf-front condominium tower at 13555 Sandy Key Drive, on the east end of Perdido Key near Beach Colony and Indigo. The gated property has a private boardwalk to the beach and is less than a mile from Johnson Beach and the Gulf Islands National Seashore.

The building is known for large residences. Units are three bedroom, three and a half bath and four bedroom, four and a half bath plans, generally about 2,000 to 2,800 square feet, with some combined or penthouse units larger still. Many have wraparound balconies with views up and down the beach, and some main baths include jetted tubs. Rental listings typically limit occupancy to two adults per bedroom.

Shared amenities are kept simple for a building of this size: a seasonally heated outdoor pool, outdoor showers, a fitness center with Gulf views, a barbecue area, a common lobby and assigned covered parking. The low number of units per floor keeps the pool deck and beach quieter than at the larger towers nearby.

La Playa condos are individually owned and rented through their owners and several rental companies, so decor, parking, pet rules and seasonal beach service vary by unit. Review each listing for its specific policies.

Johnson Beach and the National Seashore trails are a short drive east, and restaurants such as The Jellyfish are a few minutes away. Lost Key Golf Club is about a mile west, Publix is nearby for groceries, and Big Lagoon State Park is a quick trip inland. La Playa suits larger families and groups who want a spacious condo with room for everyone in a calmer setting than a big resort.
