About

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa sits directly on the Gulf of Mexico in Miramar Beach, right next door to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on Scenic Highway 98. The property occupies a stretch of the Emerald Coast where the beach runs wide and white, and the resort’s 590 guest rooms and suites each open onto a private balcony with a view of the water. That room count makes it the largest beachfront hotel between Pensacola and Panama City, and the scale shows up everywhere from the three swimming pools to the 15 tennis courts spread across the grounds.

The resort’s roots go back to 1982, when construction began on what would open as a 400 unit condominium hotel. Frank L. Flautt Jr. and Fred Alias founded Sandcastle Resorts & Hotels to bring full service beachfront hospitality to Northwest Florida, and the property opened in 1984. More than four decades later, the resort still employs multi generational staff members who trace their history back to those early years, and a $35 million renovation completed in 2024 refreshed guest rooms, public spaces, and event facilities while keeping that long institutional memory intact.

Dining is one of the resort’s strongest draws. Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood holds a AAA Four Diamond rating, the only steakhouse in Northwest Florida to carry that distinction, and it pairs a serious wine list with prime cuts and Gulf seafood in a dining room set below street level to feel more like a wine cellar than a beachfront restaurant. Beyond Seagar’s, guests can choose from Sandcastles for beachfront breakfast and dinner, Hadashi Sushi, the casual poolside Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill, the quick service Picnix market, and The Coffee Shop for a morning start, with in room dining available around the clock.

Serenity by the Sea Spa opened in 2001 and remains one of the most awarded spas on the Emerald Coast, offering massages, facials, and body treatments in a setting the resort describes as blending ambiance with results driven products. A fitness center rounds out the wellness side of the property, while the “Golf” in the resort’s name points to its access to the championship courses next door at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, including the Baytowne, Links, and Raven golf clubs. Guests who prefer the water over the fairway can walk straight onto the beach for swimming, or arrange watersports through the resort’s beach services.

Meeting and event planners find more than 60,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor space here, split between roughly 41,250 square feet of indoor function rooms, including the Emerald Ballroom, and 22,500 square feet of outdoor venues with Gulf views, which makes the property a regular host for weddings, conferences, and corporate retreats along with leisure travelers.

The resort holds Green Lodging Certification and Blue Wave beach certification, reflecting ongoing environmental practices, and it has picked up recognition that includes a Newsweek Readers’ Choice honor and local awards for best resort in the Destin area. Hotel policy sets a minimum check in age of 25, a detail worth knowing for groups planning a trip without an older adult present. Location remains the biggest selling point: the property sits on a barrier peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay, inside the larger 2,400 acre Sandestin community, so guests can walk to Grand Boulevard’s shops and restaurants, drive a few minutes to Destin’s harbor, or simply stay put and let the beach, pools, and restaurants fill the day. For travelers who want a full service, beachfront base camp on the Emerald Coast with dining that goes well beyond typical resort fare, the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa delivers a long track record to back up the promise.
