Props Brewery Hammock Bay
About
Props Brewery Hammock Bay is one of three taprooms the Props Brewery family runs along the Emerald Coast, alongside sister locations in Fort Walton Beach and Santa Rosa Beach, all operating under the same “Respect the Craft” ethos. The Hammock Bay outpost sits at 1799 Great Hammock Bend, right in the Town Center of the Hammock Bay community, next door to the Hammock Bay General Store. That pairing gives visitors an easy one-two stop: pick up a snack or a coffee at the store, then walk next door for a pint.

The brewing program leans on small-batch production and a stated focus on creativity and local ingredients rather than chasing volume. The lineup ranges from easy-drinking light ales and lagers up to more assertive IPAs, stouts, seasonal ales, and mead, so there is usually something for a beginner and something for a hop-head at the same table. Taps have recently included beers such as Endless Summer Lager, Wild Berry Sour, Tidal Pool Pale Ale, and Inara Strawberry Blonde, though as with any working taproom the specific lineup rotates and a visit two months apart can turn up an entirely different board.

Beyond the beer itself, the Hammock Bay location is built around a bigger social footprint. An adjacent field hosts up to five food trucks at a time, giving guests plenty of food options without the brewery needing its own kitchen, and a large stage with a Jumbotron screen sits across the street for concerts, watch parties, and other community events. The taproom also plugs into a regular calendar of live music, trivia nights, and farmers market pop-ups, which turns a simple beer run into a full evening out for locals and visiting families alike. That combination of brewery, food trucks, and event space mirrors what a lot of newer Florida developments are trying to build: a walkable little gathering point that does not require driving to a different town for dinner and entertainment.

Hours here run later than a typical restaurant but shorter than a bar in a bigger city. The taproom opens at 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and stays open until 9 p.m., extends to a noon opening on Friday and Saturday with last call at 10 p.m., and opens earliest on Sunday at 10 a.m., closing at 9 p.m. That Sunday morning opening is worth remembering if you are looking for a laid-back spot to watch football or grab an early afternoon beer after a morning at the beach. The brewery can be reached at (850) 586-7117, and its event calendar is best checked directly through propsbrewery.com/hammock-bay or its social media before making a special trip for trivia or live music, since those events are scheduled rather than nightly.
For visitors staying anywhere near Freeport or the Hammock Bay community, Props Brewery Hammock Bay works well as an anchor for an evening out. Pair it with a walk through the Town Center, a stop at the General Store, and whichever food truck looks best that night, and you have a low-key, family-friendly way to spend a few hours without leaving the neighborhood.
