Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer
About
Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer is a locally owned seafood restaurant on the west end of the Destin Harbor, near the foot of the Destin Bridge. It specializes in fresh, locally sourced seafood and big steamed and boiled shellfish platters, served in a rustic Southern fish house with harbor views.
The name
The restaurant is named for the bearded brotula, a rare Gulf fish that lives in water more than 300 feet deep and is prized by local charter captains. Its sister restaurant is Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi.
What to order
Steamed shellfish is the specialty: snow crab, lobster and mussels come by the platter. The west-facing deck is one of the better places on the harbor to catch the sunset, and there’s a full bar.
