Arts & Design Society of Fort Walton Beach
About
The Arts & Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, known locally as ADSO, began in 1956 when 17 local artists met in a private home to trade ideas. It incorporated as a nonprofit in 1962 and now counts more than 200 members, including working artists, instructors and art advocates. Its home is the historic Old City Hall Complex downtown, and the society marks its 70th anniversary with a celebration on October 24, 2026.
You’ll find ADSO at 17 First St SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548; call 850-244-1271 or visit artsdesignsociety.org. The public gallery is free and hosts rotating exhibitions and juried shows featuring local and regional artists.
Classes are the other half of the mission. Adults can take clay and ceramics, wheel throwing, painting and life drawing, taught by instructors the society describes as regionally and nationally recognized. Kids ages 6 to 12 have weekly art classes, and summer brings art camps. ADSO also organizes the annual Emerald Coast Arts Festival, which draws 60 to 100 artists.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4pm and Saturday from 1pm to 4pm, and it is closed Sunday and Monday. Class fees and schedules change through the year, so check the website before you sign up. Memberships are available for artists and supporters who want to get more involved.
