Howard Johnson by Wyndham Panama City is a two-story, 44-room hotel at 301 East 23rd Street, on the main commercial corridor across the north side of Panama City. Linos Park is under a mile away, the Junior Museum of Bay County is about a mile, and the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida is just over a mile. The downtown marina is about three miles south, and the Panama City Beach sand is roughly 20 minutes west.
A free grab and go breakfast is offered each morning, and newspapers are available in the lobby. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, and there is an outdoor pool. The front desk has a safe for valuables, and the rooms are on two floors in a single building.
Parking is free. Pets are not allowed. Linos Park is an easy walk for an evening stroll.
Guests note clean rooms along with some maintenance issues, so it is a better fit for travelers focused on a low-cost, central stay than for those wanting newer finishes. It works for road trippers, families visiting the museums and parks on the north side, and visitors to the nearby hospitals and shopping. Restaurants and fast food are within a few blocks along 23rd Street. Tyndall Air Force Base is about 20 minutes east, and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is a drive of a little under 40 minutes.
