Wingate by Wyndham Destin is on Palm Street, a side street just off US 98 in central Destin, within a short walk of Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park. The three-story hotel has 94 rooms, and being set back from the highway keeps it a bit quieter than properties that face US 98 directly.
A hot breakfast is included each morning. There is an outdoor pool with a hot tub and a fitness center, and Wi-Fi and parking are free. Pets are not allowed, though service animals are welcome.
Big Kahuna’s is a quick walk away, and The Track’s go-karts and mini golf are nearby. The Gulf beach accesses along Scenic Highway 98 are a short drive or a longer walk, Henderson Beach State Park is a few minutes east by car, and Destin Harbor and HarborWalk Village are about two miles west. Destin Executive Airport, used by private and charter flights, is close by, and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is about a half-hour drive.
It suits families planning water park days, business travelers who want a work desk and breakfast, and anyone who prefers a mid-priced chain hotel a few minutes from the beach rather than on it. Rooms are set up for work as well as vacation, with desks and free Wi-Fi throughout, and the hot tub is a pleasant way to end a day in the sun.
