Economy Motel

Economy Motel is a small independent motel at 1 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, right where US-98 meets the Brooks Bridge on the mainland side of Fort Walton Beach. It is one of the simplest places to stay in town, and its main advantage is location: Santa Rosa Sound is about a three-minute walk away and Fort Walton Beach Landing Park is about 0.4 miles, according to Expedia.

The motel is a single-story building with no elevator, and rooms open onto the parking lot in the classic roadside style. Room choices are one king bed or two double beds, and both smoking and non-smoking rooms are offered. Each room has a microwave, refrigerator, cable TV and a shower and tub combination. Rooms sleep two in the king layout and up to four in the double-bed layout.

Services are limited but cover the basics. Wi-Fi is free in rooms, self parking is free, housekeeping is daily and the front desk is staffed around the clock. Pets are not allowed. There is no pool, restaurant or breakfast, so plan on eating at the many restaurants nearby on the parkway and in downtown.

Recent Expedia reviews from 2026 give the location high marks and are more mixed on cleanliness and value, which fits a low-cost, no-frills stay. It works for travelers on a tight budget, workers in town for a few nights and anyone who wants to leave the car parked and walk to downtown’s bars and waterfront.

From the motel, the Indian Temple Mound Museum and the Landing’s festival grounds are within walking distance, and Okaloosa Island’s beaches are about 1.6 miles across the bridge. The Gulfarium, the Boardwalk and the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier are only a few minutes away by car, and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is roughly a 15-minute drive.
