About

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park protects about 1,600 acres at the west end of 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, with 3.2 miles of undeveloped beach, rare coastal dune lakes and high white dunes. The namesake dune rises about 25 feet above sea level.

What to see

  • Dune lakes: the park holds three, including Campbell Lake and Morris Lake.
  • Trails: more than 10 miles of marked hiking trails, including the Old Growth trail through longleaf pines once tapped for turpentine.
  • Wildlife: the park is home to 13 imperiled species, including the Choctawhatchee beach mouse and pitcher plants. Loggerhead and green sea turtles nest on the beach.
  • Getting to the beach: a tram runs from the day-use parking area to the beach, and two all-terrain beach wheelchairs are free to use.

Paddling and rentals

To keep invasive plants out of the lakes, personal kayaks, canoes and paddleboards aren’t allowed. Rent from the park’s outfitter at the campground store instead. Bikes are for rent daily.

Stay overnight

Topsail has 156 full-hookup RV sites, 22 tent sites with water and electric, and 32 bungalows and cabins with a two-night minimum.

Good to know

  • Entry: $6 per vehicle. Open 8 a.m. to sunset every day.
  • Construction: the main beach boardwalk has been closed for construction since Sept. 16, 2026. Use the alternate beach path near the tram station, and check the park’s alerts before you go.
  • Dogs: allowed on the trails on a 6-foot leash, but not on the beach or boardwalks.
