Britton Hill at Lakewood Park
Hiking trails
About
Britton Hill is the highest natural point in Florida, at 345 feet above sea level, in Walton County’s Lakewood Park near the Alabama line. It’s also the lowest state high point in the United States, which makes it a favorite stop for “highpointers” working through all 50 states and a fun bit of trivia for everyone else.
What’s there
A granite monument marks the high point. Short, color-coded nature trails start from the monument and loop through the woods, with benches placed by the Highpointers Foundation. The park also has pavilions, picnic tables and restrooms. The hill is named for the Britton family, who donated the land.
