DeFuniak Springs
Family friendly Kayaking & boating Paddleboard Rentals

About

Jackson Blue Spring is a county-owned swimming spring just east of Marianna in Jackson County. It’s a first-magnitude spring, pumping out at least 64 million gallons of 72-degree water a day, and it feeds Merritt’s Mill Pond, one of the best paddling and fishing spots in the Panhandle.

Swimming and paddling

The swim area has a sandy beach, a trampoline diving platform, a volleyball court and a food kiosk. Kayaks, clear kayaks and paddleboards rent by the hour or the day, and guided clear kayak and snorkel tours are available. The park also has pavilions to rent and a new playground.

Merritt’s Mill Pond

Below the spring, Merritt’s Mill Pond stretches about 4 miles through cypress trees, and it holds the Florida state record redear sunfish, 4.86 pounds.

Diving

The spring’s cave system has about 5,000 feet of main line. Cave and cavern diving require the right certification, and divers sign in and pay at Cave Adventurers in Marianna.
