Lawless Coast Brewing is a craft brewery on S County Hwy 393 in Santa Rosa Beach, closed Tuesdays, at 350 S. Co. Hwy 393. Hours otherwise run Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from noon to 9:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 7:00 PM, and the brewery describes itself as “a laid-back gathering place for locals and a must-stop for visitors.”

The brewery’s name comes directly from Walton County history rather than a generic outlaw theme. After the 1783 Treaty of Paris handed Florida back to Spain, the Scottish and English settlers already living in the area refused to convert to Catholicism or pay the taxes Spanish officials demanded, and colonial administrators labeled them “stubborn” and “ungovernable” for it. That standoff between local settlers and distant authority earned the region a reputation as “The Lawless Coast,” and the brewery has built its identity around that same spirit, stating on its site that “that spirit of grit, rebellion, and freedom is baked into our name.”

Low Tide, an ultra light lager at 3.7% ABV, and Uncle Ed’s, an Irish breakfast stout at 4%, sit at the easy-drinking end, while The Problem, a double IPA at 9.3% ABV, sits at the other. In between, Rosco’s Hazy IPA comes in at 7.6% ABV, Little Nuisance, an old world IPA, lands at 7%, and Loose Ends, an English pub ale, sits at 6%. Sgt.
