Stinky’s Fish Camp anchors the waterfront in Dune Allen Beach, sitting directly across Scenic Highway 30A from the Dune Allen Regional Beach Access. The restaurant looks out over a coastal dune lake, one of the rare freshwater lakes that form just behind the dunes along this stretch of the Gulf, a landscape found in only a handful of places on Earth. Dune Allen Beach itself is home to two named dune lakes, Stallworth Lake and Oyster Lake, and the restaurant’s water view comes from that same rare system. Grab a seat on the deck and there is water on one side and the Gulf of Mexico visible just past the dune line on the other.

The kitchen leans into Gulf-to-table seafood with a Louisiana accent, bringing what the restaurant calls a little Louisiana spirit to South Walton. Menu staples include a Crawfish Pie, an Oyster Log that keeps raw and baked oysters coming throughout service, and Stinky’s Stew, a broth-based bowl loaded with shrimp, mussels, fish, oysters, and snow crab legs over roasted corn and potatoes, finished with toasted garlic bread for dipping. Regulars also point to the smoked tuna dip, a fried shrimp po’boy, and shrimp and grits as reliable orders. Portions run generous, and the raw bar draws a steady crowd of oyster fans who come specifically for the log.

Live music is part of the draw here, fitting the restaurant’s easygoing personality. Sunday brunch, now also offered on Saturdays, runs late morning into early afternoon and pairs a menu of boudin hash, three-egg omelets, and shrimp and grits with live music between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. House-made Bloody Marys and a frozen Stink Juice cocktail are the signature drinks, a good order for anyone settling in for an afternoon on the water.

Stinky’s operates first come, first served, so there is no way to reserve a table ahead of a visit. Weekend waits can run long in season, but that is where the property’s other half comes in. Stinky’s Bait Shack sits right next door under the same ownership, so waiting parties can grab a drink or coffee there while a table opens up. Both businesses belong to The Dawson Group, the same team behind Red Fish Taco, and gift cards are honored across all of the group’s locations.

Because the restaurant sits on the dune lake side of 30A rather than directly on the beach, it makes an easy stop before or after a day at Dune Allen Regional Beach Access, which is directly across the highway. Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, home to some of the tallest dunes and clearest dune lakes on the Emerald Coast, sits a short drive further west and pairs naturally with a Stinky’s meal, whether that means lunch before a hike or dinner after an afternoon on the sand. Dune Allen Beach is known for exactly this kind of low-key, walkable mix of dune lakes, public beach access, and casual dining, and Stinky’s has become one of the anchors of that stretch.

Hours run 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, giving visitors a wide window for lunch, dinner, or a late-afternoon plate of oysters.
