Sea Dunes

Sea Dunes is a six-story condominium building on the Gulf side of Okaloosa Island, on Nautilus Court just off Santa Rosa Boulevard. The beach at Sea Dunes is the soft white sand and clear green Gulf water of central Okaloosa Island, and the small number of units keeps it uncrowded. Neighboring buildings include Aqua Villa, the Nautilus and The Palms. The Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park and the Boardwalk’s restaurants are a few minutes east, and Destin’s harbor, charter fleet and shopping are across the East Pass bridge. Downtown Fort Walton Beach is a short drive across the Brooks Bridge. Nautilus Court is a short, quiet side street off Santa Rosa Boulevard, which keeps traffic light, and the calmer water of Santa Rosa Sound is only a few blocks north across the island for paddling.

Sea Dunes suits families and small groups who want a quieter, newer building with three-bedroom options and a short walk to the beach. It is a practical choice for travelers who plan to spend the day on the sand, kayaking or dolphin watching rather than using resort facilities. With only 24 units, the building books up quickly in summer, and the three-bedroom condos are especially popular with families. Listings differ in decor, bedding and included extras, so it is worth comparing a few before choosing. Covered parking helps in summer heat, and the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is roughly a half-hour drive.
