Holiday Inn Express DeFuniak Springs sits on Coy Burgess Loop just off Interstate 10 at Exit 85, where US Highway 331 crosses the interstate south of downtown DeFuniak Springs. The three-story hotel has 75 rooms with queen or two-bed layouts, and the exit is lined with fast food, gas stations and a Walmart, so road trippers can refuel and eat without backtracking.
A free hot breakfast runs from 6 to 9:30 a.m., and bean-to-cup coffee is available around the clock. The hotel has an outdoor pool with umbrellas, a 24-hour fitness center and meeting space for small groups and reunions. Parking is free for vehicles under 20 feet. Dogs and cats are accepted for a nightly fee with a signed pet agreement, and rooms are smoke free.
Chautauqua Vineyards & Winery is about 1.3 miles away, and the historic district around Lake DeFuniak, with the Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood, the Walton County Heritage Museum and the Victorian homes of Circle Drive, is a short drive north. Vortex Spring is a popular side trip for swimmers and divers, and US 331 runs south across Choctawhatchee Bay to Santa Rosa Beach and 30A.
The hotel works for I-10 travelers breaking up a drive, families in town for sports tournaments or weddings, and visitors who want lower inland rates while making day trips to the South Walton beaches.
